上記にて、私がこれ迄ニウエに関し投稿したタイトル一覧を記載している。そこには

ニウエで知り合ったアメリカ人女性がゴジラファン(特にテーマ曲がお気に入り）だったので各地で見掛けたゴジラ像の写真を送付したものとある。

さて今回のニウエ旅行で最大の喜びであり成果はその女性と知り合ったことである。

最初の出会いはホテル到着の日、翌日のニウエツアーの説明会で彼女がツアー主催者と

話している時、初めてお会いし一緒に写真に写ってくれた。

彼女は(業務で来島されたようで）ツアーに参加しておらず、次にお会いしたのはニウエを去る日、空港の出発ロビーであった。その時初めて（(私の）英語と(彼女の）日本語交じりの）会話をし、メールアドレスの交換をした。プラーン・ドロレスさんで、東京のアメリカ大使館に勤務されたことがあり、その後ＮＺ・ウエリントンのアメリカ大使館勤務とのことであった。道理でキャリーバッグに日本語で「だいじ」と書いてある。その後のメール交信でも日本語の読み書きは一切問題なく出来た。

彼女はその後ポーランドに転勤となった。ポーランドでは早速ポーランド語を勉強しているようで不在の場合のオートマティック・リプライに英語の他ポーランド語が併記されている。ポーランドはウクライナの隣国にあり、現在ロシアの侵攻でミサイルが着弾したとか大変ご多忙の状況にある。

メール交信はごく最近のものは省略し、ニウエから帰国後数か月程度までとする。

私は下記如く主としてゴジラの写真を送信していた。

私が嬉しかったのは(下記英文朱記部分）私がＮＹに行くと連絡した時、母親がＮＹの非常に近くに住んでいて、喜んで私に会ってマンハッタンを案内しようと言ってくれたことである。

私はカリブ海諸国を巡った後ＮＹに立ち寄った。ＮＹは１日半と短く、５番街をトランプタワー(前日偶然火事に遭遇）から南下しONE WORLD OBSERVATORY（展望台）に登る積りだけだったので自分で歩くからと、ご厚意に感謝しつつお断りしてしまった。今、非常に悔やまれる(４年半経ったが今もお元気にされていることを願っている）。

ONE WORLDを出ると写真を写していたご夫妻がいて写真撮影を頼むとしゃがんで撮ってくれた。最上部まで写っていてベストアングル．．．有難う。

思えばニウエでほんの少し会話をし、その後はゴジラの写真を送っただけなのに、本来どこの馬の骨とも分からぬ私のことを信頼いただけたようだ。追々と私が世界１４０カ国・地域を旅行したとか、ごく最近ＩＥＣ（国際電気標準会議）の日本代表委員を務めていた（１０／２９、３０、似てる？メール２件を送付）とか、最近やっと私が何者かが見えて来たと言えるずっと以前であったにも拘わらずである。結局、以心伝心で知性と教養に溢れている？のが肌で感じられ、好意を抱いてくれたのかも知れない。

Dear Dolores,

You seem so busy. Dunedin is the most south city in NZ, close to The South Pole continent.

I visited Queen’s Town, but I couldn’t visit there.

I’ve visited Sydney, Apia, Samoa and Pago Pago, American Samoa, Denpasar, Bali and Jakarta.

It took more than two hours from the airport to the hotel in the city center because of a heavy traffic jam even at midnight.

Terrible!

You can find photos of these cities other than Sydney in my HP.

(I visited Sydney twice, but it was old and I used film camera at that time.)

For me,

Yes, I go to New York.

My schedule is as shown in the attached file.

It’s written in Japanese, then I translated the schedule regarding NY into English as shown below.

As found, I just stay for a short time, one and a half day in NY.

So nice to hear from you. Thank you for the photos of Shin Gojira. I have the DVD and I am a big fan of the film. I’m very said to hear that the “so-ri” Prime Minister actor passed away. I did not know that. He was quite good in the film!

I hope to go back to Japan soon too, but sadly I travel so much for work I have no idea when I will make it there. Still, I hope to visit again someday. I am travelling to Dunedin, Sydney, and Samoa in the coming weeks, and just got back from Bali and Jakarta!

Are you going to New York City? Do you have friends there? I am asking because my mother lives very close to the city and would be happy to meet you and show you around if you don’t know anyone in Manhattan, although you have been before!

You know Godzilla landed at Kamata, Ota-ku (ward) at first.

I live in Ota-ku, then it’ s near from my house.

I hope you come back to Japan again and

if you want to go to the tire park, I can help you.

Do you know that Mr. Ren Ohsugi who acted as the prime minister in Shin Godzilla died almost one month ago?

By the way, I’ll visit NY and such Caribbean countries as Dominica, Puerto Rico, Antigua Barbuda

and so from Mar. 28 for 14 days.

I’ve already visited NY for several times and once Cuba and Jamaica.
